How To Clean A One Hitter

 Michael Pegis, a postdoctoral researcher at MIT, says that Rubbing alcohol or any other liquid of an organic nature has similar structural properties to the molecules in the weed resin that cause the impact: the resin allows the liquid to drain less easily off the pipe surface and contributes to easier removal.   

A solution that allows you to clean your glass to one piece uses white vinegar and baking soda. Some smokers prefer to clean their glass with isopropyl alcohol combined with salt. When you run out of alcohol, one of the quickest and most effective solutions is to use salt and vinegar.    

The best way to clean a one-hit pipe is to soak it in isopropyl alcohol mix with salt in a plastic bag or container for 30-60 minutes for the best results. Then clean your glass or one-hitter pipe with a firm boiling point and rinse it out as soon as it cools down to prevent the resin from hardening. Rinse your clean glass or pipe to get rid of the taste of alcohol and you're on your way.    

Take your plastic bag or container and put enough isopropyl alcohol into it to put under the water of your pipe. Mix the alcohol and salt together a little, stir in the container and shake the bag.    

Another good tip to help clean up is to use your fingers to pour salt on the end of a pipe. One of the biggest hacks is to pour salt on the pipe with the ends of your finger.  

If this is too strenuous for you, you can soak the solution for one to three hours, making sure that you check your chillum regularly. The next step is to rinse the one-hitter with warm water until the resin is out of the difficult-to-reach areas on the pipe, or you can use a Q-Tip pipe cleaner.   

Put the container or bag out of the way and give the cleaning solution 1-3 hours. Give your one-hitter a thorough cleanse after one to two weeks, so that it does not build up and lingers too long, causing it to smell and taste bad. You want to make sure that the solution comes in the one-man racket and works, so to speak. 

Seal your pipe or bag that holds your pipe in the container and shake your pipe. Seal your pipe in the bag and stir it so that the solution mixes a little into the pipe. 

Alcohol is a cheap disinfectant found in most households, and I have found that this is not a problem. If your pipe looks dirty, we advise you to use the salt-alcohol method. One solution is to use salt and vinegar, which is the same as isopropyl alcohol and salt purification solution.   

In addition to your cleaning solution, you will need one or two more items to clean your pipe. The following is one of the most common cleaning methods – soak in a mixture of a high proportion of grating alcohol and kosher salt. I have found that the trick is to put my One-Shutter with cleaning solution in a mason jar and soak it, but you also have to use a Q-tip (a cheap and readily available alternative to pipe cleaners) to remove annoying cannons from the pipe.  

Lemon water is not as effective as other cleansing methods but it works if you are willing to use pipe cleaners, rinse and let the nut hopper sit for a long time to clean it up.

Another alternative way to clean a one-hitcher is to use baking soda and vinegar similar to the previous solution of salt and vinegar. This method is more effective because baking soda is not as grainy as salt and hard-to-access areas are harder to clean. This will help to prevent ash buildup and give you a gentler blow each time.  

Light the entire pipe for a second or two to prevent it from getting too hot. Tap the ashes from your tile with a poker to remove the ashes and resin.   

This works best if you are willing to sit on your pipe for a long period of time to clean it. If this is not the case, you may need to give it a little more time with your cleaning solution. If your pipe is clean, it will not taste bad, but if it is clogged, you will be able to pull out any smoke, leaving you frustrated and disappointed.
